A wonderful weekend

I love the outfits Stella always puts together!

Our first 3rd birthday party of our group of friends...Chase.

The kids loved playing outside; it was a beautiful day here.  Sunny and 65 degrees.

Elizabeth giving Stella a little push on the swing.

Everyone was VERY interested in the birthday boy opening presents.

Stella waiting patiently for a piece of cake!

Ruby and I, with my friend Mindy, went to a baby shower in Atlanta today (Sunday)  Ruby went with us and was a very good little girl and looked adorable in this outfit.  Stella stayed at home with Daddy and had a very good day too.

Trip to Uncle Matt and Aunt Kandi's

We spent quite a bit of time at my brother's this past week and had such a great time.  Stella loved playing with her cousins and all their things.  They have a ton of dress up clothes, shoes, bracelets, necklaces, fingernail polish etc.  She was in heaven! We just got home yesterday and are trying to settle back in.  Here are some pictures from our visit.

Stella climbed up to the top of this all by herself.  I am just sure she's the most coordinated and athletic 2 year old in the whole wide world!  And the prettiest 2 year old for that matter.   :)

Ruby had her 4 month well check today.  Wow!  Is she really 4 months old already?  She was fascinated by the mirror in the room at the Doctor's office.  She was staring at herself for most of the time and was talking and smiling the entire time.  She'd see me in the mirror and smile bigger, as if to say, "Mom, you're here too!?"  Her whole body was moving in pure delight.  It was the cutest thing.  She got her Doctor laughing too; she was so thrilled with her mirror image.  She now weighs 14lbs. 10 oz. and is in the 72% for that. Height is 26.5" which puts her in the 98%.

abc's and Ruby

Yesterday we were out shopping.  She'd brought her blankie into the store with her and had lost track of it somewhere in there.  Uh oh!  I was getting a little panicked.  I asked some of the cashiers if they'd found a blankie and I described it to them.  No, nothing.  So we walked up and down the aisles retracing our steps.  Stella was asking everyone we passed in the aisles if they'd seen her blankie.  It was so funny!  Many of the people would respond to her; some of the ladies asked what it looked like and Stella would describe it to them.   "It's pink with a little lamb's head" she's say.  Some of the people she asked didn't respond to her and she'd tell me, "Her not listening to me"  :) After spending an extra half hour in the store looking for the blanket to no avail, it was time to leave.  I reached in my pocket to get the car keys and guess what I found?  The blanket!

Stella knows her abc's.  Well sometimes she leaves out a few letters here and there, but that's alright!  :)

The wonderful thing about a digital camera is that you can take so many pictures of the same thing with the idea that later you can choose the very best one to print.  My problem is I ended loving almost all of the pictures and have a hard time choosing a favorite!  I wanted to share a few with you of Miss Ruby.  She's rapidly approaching 4 months old.  I love her sweet face.  She's laughing a lot now and has discovered how to blow 'raspberries'.  Stella has heard us use that term to describe what she does with her mouth and yesterday told me, "Mom, Ruby's blowing strawberries."

Reading 'Someday'

We read this book every night together. 'Someday' is a really special book given to us from my Mom. It makes me cry all the time! It's so sweet about a mother and a daughter, and all that the mother dreams will happen for her daughter someday. But as you read, the daughter gets older and older, until in the end she's brushing her own child's hair. The page that really gets to me says, "Someday I (the mom) will stand on this porch and watch you wave to me until I no longer see you." And the daugher is grown up and headed off to college. In the end the story says..."Someday your own hair will glow silver in the sun, and when that day comes love, you will remember me" I really can't describe it as well as I want to. You should go buy it! Especially if you are a mother or a daughter. Lately Stella, like most things, wants to read this book all by herself. She's memorized most all of the pages and it's so cute to hear her 'read' the story. Of course, as soon as I get the camera out Stella gets a little silly and I haven't quite captured just how good she is at this! She doesn't mess up even a little when I don't have the camera of course!

a future make-up artist???

So I was getting ready to go out for a much needed 'girls night'.  Stella, of course, wanted to come upstairs with me to play with make-up. She was adamant about doing everything all by herself.  And repeatedly told me, "I wanna do it all by myself".  I let her and she had a ball!  After she was done, she looked in the mirror, smiled, and said, "I look kinda messy".  :)  Here's the final product...

And the girls... Janae, Sarah, Nicole, Me and Mary.  We had a great time together.

Stella vs. Ruby

The girls

A couple of thumb suckers!  What are the odds?  Can you tell who's who?

Here's Ruby at 3 months

                   And Stella at 2 months

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!!!
Goodbye to 2010.  We are looking forward to what this next year will bring.  So many wonderful experiences to come with our two little girls.

Ruby is smiling  a lot now and has laughed a couple times. We've found that she is very ticklish.  She loves to be talked to and loves to talk back.  She really likes watching her sister and the t.v. and she can reach for and bat at her toys now.
We went to our friend's house for New Year's Eve.  We definitely did not stay till midnight, but we had a good time while we were there.  Stella loves her friends.

Stella makes us laugh everyday!  She's always saying something clever and funny.  Some recent examples...
-While trying to drive her tricycle through the cluttered toy room, "Oh my gosh, there's all this traffic"
-In response to her Grandpa saying she could be a cheerleader when she grew up, "No, I'm going to be a Mommy."
-After finding a stick-on earring on her blankie in her bed, "Oh my gosh, what the heck!"
-In response to her Dad telling her she was not allowed to say to him "Don't bother me" (which she did), she said, "But that's not fair."
